What makes microneedling so effective?
Microneedling is the gold standard for delivering Skin rejuvenation, by this we mean restoring your skin back to optimum health.
After Microneedling your skin not only looks younger but actually behaves biologically as it used too. To accomplish this smooth, plump, firm and evenly pigmented skin we need to target 3 key cells (keratinocytes, melanocytes and fibroblasts) and regulate their function.
Microneedling does this whilst preserving the integrity of the epidermis, which is your skin’s natural barrier defence.
What conditions can benefit from microneedling?
Many people think that Microneedling, also called dermal needling or collagen induction therapy, is limited to treating lines and wrinkles. However, because of its ability to normalise skin function and improve cell-to-cell communication, microneedling can be used to correct a variety of conditions and concerns, some of which are listed below;
Acne scarring
Lines & Wrinkles
Lax / Saggy skin
UV Damage
Hyperpigmentation
Thinned skin / epidermal density
Stretch Marks
Surgical scars
Loss of adhesion & resiliency
Vascular Rosacea
How does microneedling achieve these results?
The effects of microneedling are two fold. Firstly, the micro-channels that are created help to deliver active ingredients to the deeper layers of skin that otherwise wouldn’t be able to penetrate the surface. Long-term, the platelets and growth factors that are released promote regenerative healing. Collagen production actually continues for up to one year after your last session.
The following skin functions are improved from your first session;
Cell-to-cell communication increases
Cellular function is optimized
The dermal/epidermal junction is strengthened
Scar tissue is broken down
Epidermal growth factors (EGF) are released
Increases natural collagen and elastin production by the increase of TGF-Beta 3
Strengthens Capillary walls by angiogenesis
Unlike laser resurfacing, micro-needling does not introduce thermal heat into the skin. So, it is safe for all skin types and has hardly any risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
How many sessions are needed?
The number of sessions needed will vary between individuals, and your therapist will discuss this with you, however typically 3-6 treatments are required spaced 2-6 weeks apart. To get the best results from a micro needling treatment it is important to complete the full recommended course, as results are cumulative.
What will I feel and how will I look afterwards?
Please ignore the awful images you see on google searches, expertly delivered microneedling is a great treatment to have.
Depending on the type of needling you are having we might apply a topical numbing cream prior to your treatment.
After the treatment, your skin will probably be slightly red and flushed in appearance, similar to moderate sunburn. Warmth may also be felt and skin may feel tight and dry, however, this is alleviated with a soothing post-procedure LED treatment.
Your skin may stay slightly flushed and sensitive for up to 48 hours.
Again, depending on the type of treatment you have, we will supply you with aftercare products to use at home.
“Before booking any course of treatment, we recommend you book a consultation.”
Why have a consultation with us?
Because without knowing what is going on with your skin how can you treat it correctly?
During your consultation we will ask you some questions and chat about your health, lifestyle, nutrition, and stress levels as well as how you feel about your skin. These external factors are important as they have a huge impact on the way your skin behaves. We can treat skin symptoms but in order to give you properly happy skin we must identify the causes of any problems.
Knowledge is power and we also think it is very important for you to understand how your skin functions. So, as well as offering you solutions in the form of a plan containing treatment and targeted homecare recommendations we will also share with you some skin education.
We offer two types of consultation that are conducted face to face in clinic as well as an online service via zoom or facetime for those of you who cannot come in to see us in person.
We recommend clients new to the clinic ideally start with a full Skin Consultation and Bespoke Treatment Plan Creation, this one includes a treatment too, a great way to get a feel of what we can do for you.
